I thrive on absorbing, analyzing, and synthesizing new information. I am currently looking for a position where I can press these skills and abilities into a new field. Having spent over 10 years in education I have inculcated a passion for teaching. Yet teaching is not a highly specialized skill set unique to the academy; good teachers are capable analysts, communicators, and leaders.The same research skills I used to mine arcane historical topics easily project onto real world projects measured by tangible results. My research stragegy requires an informed assessment of what sources might produce the most valuable data, an openness to new or unique sources of data, and the gumption to push through piles of seemingly unrelated content. I follow this task with careful review and analysis, looking for a cohesive order or logic that illuminates a problem or suggests a potential solution. These results must then be communicated through clear and effective writing or presentation. Choosing the appropriate mode of presentation is essential, and I prefer modes that are empirically proven to be effective at long-term learning. Being involved in higher education has also developed my skills as a leader. I served for 5 years in university administration, where I managed a staff of 6, developed and implemented new programs, and presented a myriad of topics to diverse groups of university stakeholders. During that time I discovered a love for working collaboratively with colleagues to anticipate, identify, and solve emergent problems.As a result, I have the skills necessary to help your company succeed!
