Systems Change & Development CoordinatorResources For Independence, Central Valley Jun 2012 - Jan 2014Work with RICV staff, elected officials and other community partners to advocate for systemic change with people with disabilities. This includes advocacy for systems that are not fully accessible such as housing, transportation, healthcare, voting, etc. Oversee systems change advocacy and coordinate development including financial development (grant writing), fundraising, and community partnerships and other development reporting to the Executive Director. This includes familiarity with legislation that may impact our consumers and educational advocacy to alleviate barriers that negatively impact the lives of people with disabilities and prevent the quest for a higher quality of life. Some specific duties include: Co-teaching a Community Leadership Academy which teaches people with disabilities how to serve on government and community based organization boards, councils, etc. Serving on committees and coalitions that address these systems through various collaborations and action items. Working with the Systems Change Network-collaborating with all advocates and community organizers from independent living centers across the state.Supervising a part-time Systems Change Advocate.
