I am not a fan of treadmills. I like to see things change. I like to see things get done that change environments, perceptions and attitudes. I've had jobs that were the usual grind. Turn on the lights, do the work, turn out the lights, go for a beer. You come in the next day and everything is the same. The environment, the work, the clientele, the result. Nope. Don't like treadmills.I've done a variety of jobs, but the majority of the ones I've liked have been taking on projects and seeing them from beginning to end. Seeing, and sometimes feeling, the difference between the beginning the project and the closing. The change that has taken place and the benefit realized. Project management gives me the opportunity to use my skills to help others find the best path to reach their objectives and realize the greatest benefit for the least amount of time and money possible. I've worked with extremely experienced clients who may have been of more benefit to me with all their experience, and people in it for the first time, who need guidance and reassurance. My dad always said it's easier to do something right the first time than have to do the it again to fix your errors. It's something that was reinforced over eight years in the Army. Well planned, effective and efficient is a good way to get things done, to affect change. Taking an idea or need, and finding a path to achieve that goal or mission, gives me a great sense of purpose. To do it within the planned parameters and without flaws gives me a great sense of pride.
