The Chief of Staff performs responsible, professional advisory and consultative work for the Secretary of Health. As a key member of the Department of Health’s executive management team, the incumbent is responsible for fostering the identification, amplification, and discussion of major issues for the Secretary’s ultimate resolution. He guides and manages the operations of the Secretary’s Office, providing staff assistance on a wide variety of activities encompassing the Department’s policies, programs, goals, and objectives and ensuring executive-level policies are understood and that the Secretary’s objectives are accomplished. A major responsibility of this position involves the coordination and intervention on behalf of the Secretary with Department program managers to identify issues, and participate in establishing goals and objectives and strategic plans and policies. Another important aspect of this work involves responsibility for direct interaction with high-level administrative and legislative officials and decision-makers to represent the Secretary’s interests, programs, and goals. Work is performed with an extremely high level of independence and it is reviewed for adherence to the Secretary’s goals and objectives. Provides advice to the Secretary and other Executive Staff on a wide variety of highly complex and sensitive programmatic and administrative matters.Serves as the primary contact person for the Secretary’s Executive Staff, including Deputy Secretaries, on all but the most sensitive issues, which require the Secretary’s knowledge or decision-making.Monitors the status of projects and major issues; provides direction to Deputies to ensure appropriate and timely action occurs, and ensures follow-up occurs when required.Advises the Secretary on specific problems and issues in any area of the Department and recommends appropriate action.

Corey specifically develops and implements strategies that support the company while building and maintaining relationships with elected officials and regulators that support AC's mission of helping people get care,stay well, and build Healthy Communities.His work encompasses AC's Pennsylvania physical health lines of business in 53 of 67 counties.In Pennsylvania, Mr. Coleman has successfully advocated for appropriate funding for the state's safety net program, particularly the Medicaid population. By building and maintaining relationships with elected officials and regulatory agencies, Mr. Coleman helps AC strengthen its presence in its current market and position itself to enter new ones.He also manages contract lobbyists for the company.
