Guided the global business while also ensuring future stability and security for doTERRA, a billion-dollar essential oil company of more than 4,000 employees that ethically and responsibly sources more than 150 essential oils from more than 40 countries and markets. Using a direct selling model, these products and related wellness products are distributed to more than 10 million customers around the world.

Led the work of 240 full-time missionaries over three years.

Involved in Strategic Issues throughout the company including acquisitions. Participated in Board of Director Meetings presenting plans and initiatives. Also, served as interim COO overseeing all international operations during this time.

Directly responsible for $250 million Greater China business with a focus on developing and executing unique entry into the complex market of Mainland China. Led efforts to obtain the first direct sales license in Mainland China by a foreign company not in China prior to the “ban” a decade ago. Worked directly with sales leaders from around the world speaking at conventions and major sales events. Hired and managed a loyal and extremely competent team of sales and operating professionals in the region.

Responsible for all financial matters at the company including a highly successful IPO in 1996. Functioned as the primary “voice” of the company with Wall Street investors. Led company’s first banking relationships securing loans in excess of $100 million to fund acquisitions. Extensive experience with SEC filings, Annual Reports, Financial Statements, etc. Participated in board meetings, and investor meetings/conferences/calls. Hired and managed a loyal team of financial professionals.

Developed and executed market entry plans for the company into Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Mexico and Brazil. Ensured that the business model was legal and appealed to a multi-national sales force. Led all international start-up efforts ensuring immediate profitability in most all markets, including the company’s largest market Japan.

Responsible for international finance issues, including developing significant tax saving structural strategies such as entity choice in foreign markets and transfer pricing compliance. Testified in highest tax tribunal in Canada in a transfer pricing case that returned more than $3 million to shareholders.

Staff Accountant with a focus on auditing. Worked out of the Salt Lake City, Utah office and performed audit work for private enterprises, joint ventures, government agencies and other entities.
