Us Army-ActiveUs Army Aug 2004 - Jul 2012First part of my army career, I worked as a Food Service Specialist. Making sure that the soldier’s morals were being met; by cooking and serving meals three times a day. Also helped to maintain our unit’s military equipment, as well as, to get them ready for deployment. Moving on from there, I worked with a system called DTS, Defense Travel System, and was also a School's NCO, basically a military version of an Academic Advisor to get soldiers signed up into military schools. With DTS, after the soldiers were accepted and scheduled for the military schools, I then would go into the DTS System and book their flights and hotels and sometimes rental cars, for their stay at the school, because most of the time their schooling was off base, in a different state. I also kept a database that kept track of all the schools that all the soldiers have taken or that still need to be taken, in order to progress in their career. I also made sure that each unit was keeping their files up-to-date and within the regulations put forth by the US Army. I also was a Command Secretary, where I made sure mail was routed to the right person within our command group. Also kept the schedules of our command group and did the scheduling of different meetings they had planned or needed planned. This is where I started being in charge of close to 5-10 soldiers at a time, making sure they were doing what needed to be done to become successful professionals in their job. Made sure they had military standards when it came to uniform, physically fit, and even in some aspects, their personal living. I had taken responsibility of close to $100,000 worth of military equipment, in which my soldiers were being held responsible for making sure my equipment was maintained and operable. From here I was stationed in Korea. I was a Food Service Supervisor. Trained and mentored 5-8 soldiers at a time. Making sure they were to standard for the job and as well as being a soldier.
