Kobe Bryant introduced me to the Tech World.Crazy huh? Let me explain how...Growing up, I’ll be honest, I didn’t take school and my education seriously. I skated through high school and college doing the bare minimum, anything to just get by. When I finally graduated with my Bachelor’s in Communication, the feeling of completion didn’t feel nearly as great as I always thought it would, or how everyone makes it seem. I think this was because one, I didn’t apply myself while in school, and two, I didn’t get a degree in something I really wanted to do with my life. I felt very unfulfilled. On January 26th 2020, the day Kobe died changed my life forever. When he passed it made me realize how quick our time is on this earth and how important it is to attack the life we want. I took a look at my life and realized I could be doing more. I had made the decision to go back to school. Of course the decision of taking a new career path was a risk, tech at that, but I was willing to take that risk so I can have a better future. I made up my mind that I was going to change how I thought about school and really give it my all.Ever since then, I’ve been on the Dean’s list in the tech field. I’m one semester away from graduating and my plan is to go for my Masters. I have proved so much to myself by learning different languages like C#, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Swift UI through the last few years. I am currently learning React, Node.JS, MongoDB, SQL, and Express.JS. The problem solving aspect of coding is what made me fall in love with. It feels like one huge puzzle to figure out. Though it can be very difficult at times. I absolutely love the challenge of finding the solution because I always believed there is a solution for everything.Learning to code represents my determination to be better. It represents how anyone can turn their life around if they just make a decision and persevere. I may not be the most experienced today, but my drive to be the best is what pushes me to always improve.“If you want to be great at something, there’s a choice you have to make.
