Communication is a skill that I have used for 8+ years while working in customer service. I must respond in a timely manner to the customer. I learned how to communicate with the customer in a clear, easy-to-understand way to solve their problem(s). Empathy another skill that I have used and something I have sharpened throughout my job. My interactions may begin with someone who is frustrated or unhappy. It is always important that I understand and identify with the feelings of others and I communicate accordingly. Patience is another skill I have been able to sharpen while at my current job. Clients and customers might ask several questions or be unhappy. Patience is a must in customer service. This is a skill that is important to keep the conversation on track, remain personable and I have to provide a positive experience for the customer so they keep coming back. I also have technical knowledge skills through my current job. This I use to solve problems effectively and I also have knowledge of the programs we use at work. I feel that a person needs to also have integrity when doing a job. I feel integrity is a must for any job. Although I feel it is the most important going into the addiction counseling field because that is what it depends on is honesty from both the counselor and the client. I know great time management skills, I am always on time to work or any appointment.
