Susquehanna River Rail Bridge ProjectThis CMAR bridge project features the construction of two mega rail bridge structures over the Susquehanna River. The new bridges replace an aging 117-year-old double track bridge structure. The project alignment spans five miles and includes reconstructed bridge approaches with modern track, overhead catenary systems, and signals that meet 21st century safety standards. The new east and west bridge structures are each 4,440 feet long with a signature 400-foot-long tied arch channel span providing a 60 feet vertical clearance for the passage of ships. The bridges will each accommodate two new mainline tracks – the east bridge enables 160 mph train speeds and the west bridge 125 mph. The project will require approximately 123,000 feet of track and will include 29 turnouts. It also includes 165 catenary foundations. The bridge structures require around 60 million pounds of structural steel, 28 million pounds of reinforcing rebar, 105,000 cubic yards of concrete, 16,000 feet of drilled shafts and 157,000 feet of retaining walls. Phase one construction of the west bridge is scheduled for 2025, with completion and demolition of the existing bridge in 2030. Phase two for the east bridge will follow with construction beginning in 2031 with expected completion in 2036.

South Shore Line Double Track Project 1 | $375.5MThis electrified commuter rail capacity expansion project includes construction of new second mainline tracks and other rail infrastructure improvements within a 26.6-mile section of NICTD’s existing South Shore Line (SSL) between Gary and Michigan City in Indiana. Construction elements include a total of 16.9 miles of ballasted track, the removal of approximately two miles of embedded, in-street tracks from the roadway and reconstruction of the two tracks in a separate, parallel right-of-way in Michigan City, a new overhead contact system, four new railroad bridge structures over roadways and Class 1 railroads, new or modified railroad signals and associated control systems - including PTC systems, reconstruction of 14 at-grade crossings including new and modified grade crossing warning equipment, culvert replacements, retaining walls (wing walls, headwalls, and toe walls), passenger platform upgrades at five stations, and additional surface parking lots.

GLX Constructors $1 BillionMassachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Green Line Extension Design-Build –Boston, MA The Green Line Extension (GLX) will extend the northern end of the Green Line from Lechmere to Union Square in Somerville and College Avenue in Medford. This $1 billion project entails relocation and new construction of 4.3 miles of double track including seven stations (6 new, 1 relocated), a vehicle storage and maintenance facility, and replacement or rehabilitation of several bridges. Scope also includes new drainage, utilities, roadway and intersection improvements, retaining walls, and noise barriers in the rail corridor with approximately one mile of viaduct. Systems will be installed for light rail (traction power, overhead contact system, signal, and communications) and commuter rail (signal and communications). The GLX project will create additional transportation routes in the Medford and Somerville neighborhoods, reducing the number of vehicles on local roads to improve traffic concerns as well as support municipal plans for sustainability and urban redevelopment.

The facility is being constructed and equipped to perform service and inspection, heavy repairs, blow-down, body repairs, painting, storage, cleaning, and washing of light-rail vehicles (LRV) in the Metro fleet. In addition, the facility will house general administration, support services, miscellaneous maintenance shops, and equipment housing and storage. The track related scope included approximately: 15,000 TF - 115# rail, (embedded track, pedestal track, ballasted track, field bent - tight radius curved track) 6,000 concrete ties, 35,000 tons of ballast, 600 tons of AREMA No, 5 walkway ballast, 43 turnouts, 1 double crossover, flashbutt welding, thermite welding, miscellaneous bumping posts and track appurtenances, and 1,500 TF of precast concrete panel grade crossings. Scope also includes 200,000 yards of track subgrade, subballast, and ballast. The track configuration and site layout support safe and effective LRV movements for switching between functional facilities and storage tracks, and between the maintenance & operations facility and the mainline tracks.

The rail line on this project will run between the Expo Line on Exposition Boulevard and the Metro Green Line. It will consist of aerial and below-grade segments, with all remaining areas at-grade. The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project will serve the Crenshaw District, Inglewood, Westchester and surrounding area with eight stations. In addition to the alternative transportation option to congested roadways, the project will also provide significant environmental benefits, economic development and employment opportunities throughout Los Angeles County.

Archer Western - Herzog (AWH) Joint Venture $470 MillionTEX Rail Fort Worth to DFW International Airport Terminal B – Fort Worth, TXThe TEX Rail project is a 27.2-mile commuter rail system planned to operate between downtown Fort Worth, Texas and northeast Tarrant County to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. This commuter rail line consists of 9 stations, two of which are shared with the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) service in downtown Fort Worth. In addition to the two common stations in downtown Fort Worth, the TEX Rail line shares the DFW Airport-North Station and the Terminal B Station with the future planned Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Cotton Belt East Line in north Dallas. There are 39 at grade road crossings and 23 bridges to be constructed including structures that cross the Trinity River, UPRR Peach Yard, and SH114 spanning 16 lanes of traffic.
