Profile bio

About Corey Mcgee

In my current position, I am responsible for lobbying federal agencies on behalf of the ADA on a number of policy issues (specifically, federal dental services, veterans, military, health IT, and practice-related issues), through both written communications and in-person meetings with agency staff at all levels. I also assist with the development and delivery of the ADA’s legislative and regulatory priorities in Congress, through written testimony, letters and other communications. In accomplishing these responsibilities, I maintain close working relationship with ADA leadership and frequent independent decision-making is required. Previously, at the Illinois State Medical Society, I developed expertise on public health issues relevant to medical practice, staffed the Council on Medical Service, and developed and produced continuing medical education content. My first position at ISMS gave me experience in motivating members to become active participants in a medical association and in finding ways to motivate non-members to join a cause. My earlier background as a legislative aide with a Masters in Political Science (focus on political philosophy) from the University of Chicago MAPSS program (Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences) allows me the familiarity with policy and political campaigns needed to disseminate and explain sometimes complex policy issues to membership. My experience encompasses all aspects of the legislative process, including policy analysis and research, introduction of bills, building of coalitions, work with committees, and writing and editing press releases, op-eds, and constituent correspondence. I also have knowledge of, and experience working in, a number of policy areas, particularly veterans affairs, health care, and "social issues." My experience and academic background make me an ideal fit for organizations involved in public debate and affecting policy, from government agencies and legislative offices, to associations and think tanks, to consulting and law firms.

Listed skills include Policy Analysis, Political Campaigns, Community Outreach, Public Policy, and 21 others.
