I judge my success as an educator through the success of my learners, both inside and outside the classroom. Performance and progress varies from assignment to assignment, situation to situation, and learner to learner, and thus it is vital that I, as an educator, be proficient in providing a multitude of alternative assessments to each learner as an individual. As Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences points out, every person has their own strengths and weaknesses and therefore should be provided with opportunities to showcase their best work (i.e. portfolios, presentations, papers, tests, etc.). Upon completion of these assessments, I use the data to drive my teaching and the growth of my learners.
