Associate Director, LGBTQ+ Art, Material Culture & HistoryIn collaboration with the Head of the Department, manage and drive all aspects of the production of the “catalogues” for the LGBTQ+ auction, including the cataloguing, condition reports, images, video, footnotes, catalog essays, articles, lot order, and layout in coordination with the other participating departmentsCultivate networks among collectors, dealers, curators, and others to develop and maintain best-in-class knowledge of the fine art and material culture market.Evaluate property for potential inclusion in sales, working collaboratively with cross-departmental colleaguesCollaborate closely with the Head of the Department and inter-departmental teams to contribute to the department’s strategic allocation of propertySpecialist, African American ArtDevelop business contacts and strategic opportunities with the Head of the Department and Oversee communications with clients on behalf of the Department Head, such as arranging meetings, written and verbal communications in sharing updates and information with clients Participate in business meetings and prepare business correspondence and presentation materials Assist with collection valuations and proposals for consignments, working with other senior members of the team/company to position Swann as a premier house from which to consign African American ArtSet and approve estimates in collaboration with the Head of Department and ensure sales terms are aligned with department and company directives to realize auctions with the highest levels of connoisseurship and profitability.Drive a successful and targeted pre-sale process through active participation in the pre-sale exhibitions with a focus on one-to-one client contact and collaboratively working with colleagues to focus their clients on specific works of interest and to brainstorm possible sales strategies
