Participated in a intensive summer research program investigating the chemopreventative effects of ZD1839 (Iressa) on human DCIS and invasive breast cancer. This work, as well as subsequent work was presented in a talk at the annual AACR meeting and a second author publication in JNCI.

Responsible for teaching and instructing first year medical students in didactic lecture and collective groups several times each week.

Completed work towards a thesis entitled, "Identification of Novel Kinase Targets for the treatment of ER-negative Breast Cancer". Utilized genomic and proteomic profiling and associated bioinformatic analyses to identify novel subtypes of ER-negative breast cancer as well as identified novel targets for the treatment of triple negative breast cancer. Additionally, my work led directly to the approval and opening of a Phase II biological efficacy study of dasatinib in women with advanced triple negative disease currently accruing patients and on which I am a co-investigator. Spent two years working out the mechanism of the anti-genotoxic effects of flavonoids and other organocompounds using a variety of techniques including the comet assay.
