• Lead a team of Component and CAD Library Specialists across multiple design sites.• Support engineering, commodity management, and manufacturing as the subject matter expert for electrical and electro-mechanical component sourcing, selection, and qualification. • Gate, review and qualify new components meet commodity, environmental, reliability and manufacturing requirements.• Conduct commodity research, summarizing and influencing vendor component commodity roadmaps; driving value-based engineering decisions by highlighting trends in technology, availability, and cost.• Test and implement new technologies, such as embedded passive and active components; by completing prototype schematic capture, PCB design, and software bring-up in Python on a Raspberry Pi. • Analyze designs, developing component change strategies to minimize physical design area and highlight millions of dollars in product savings annually.• Attend handheld design, and review meetings; providing design feedback focusing on assembly, quality, and cost.• Drive technical relations with existing and new vendors, and other technology providers.• Communicate with all levels of BlackBerry and Vendor management to help drive changes and problem resolution • Principal developer of the global engineering libraries adding 5000+ parts; including parametric data, complex 3D, and simulation models.• Leverage cross functional expertise in PCB Design, Materials and Design for Manufacturing teams to understand and push PCB limitations and help optimize component yield, and product manufacturability.• Responsible for developing trainings for new engineers and supply chain personnel.
