-Analyze and inspect shelters, bridges, streams, trails, vehicles, and many more resources dispersed around the forest.-Researched high use and problem areas in the Mt Hood National Forest and developed patrols in the region to address public concerns-Developed interpretive talks and teaching topics (LNT principles for example) in order to educate the public so that we may better protect our lands.-Hiked around the MH forest providing additional points of contact between the public and the public lands. Primary duty was to take completely novice guests out on the Middle Fork of the Flathead river, read the water and weather conditions, and find a way to safely and efficiently guide them through class II-III rapids, all while maintaining a fun, friendly, and safe atmosphere.Actively read the water and responding to changing river conditions, taught and led brand new crews of strangers and taught them to work together so we could paddle through to safety, discovered and analyzed new and active dangers in dynamic rapids and avoided them, gave safety talks, jumped into the water and saved troubled guests, and flipped boats over to safety.Dealt with a wide variety of guests, from kayakers, to avid indoorsmen, those with a variety of health problems, persons with disabilities, a few Wounded Warriors with one arm, a man with no legs, children with autism, people afraid of water, and everyone else in-between.Went through extensive training, including over 1000 miles of experience on the river, Swiftwater Rescue certification, bus driving practice, First Aid/CPR, and Wilderness First Response.Led Full Day and Multi Day trips. Worked at a rental center where we rented out and inspected tents, kayaks, sleeping bags, cooking sets, and every other piece of outdoor gear imaginable. We cleaned these and cataloged them in the item data entry program, Fusion.Worked at the two climbing walls our university ran: checked people in, created memberships for them, belayed people, checked the guests for safety, taught belay classes, spotted people, offered climbing beta, and checked the gear for integrity.Set climbing routes, including stripping holds from the wall 40’ up in the air and creating new routes for the climbers and for the annual climbing completion we ran.Helped clean holds, strip and set new routes, and run our annual climbing completion, the Ttown Pulldown.Taught a kayaking roll clinic weekly: we’d load boats, skirts, paddles, and helmets in our trailer, brought them to our aquatic center pool, and I’d teach brand new participants how to paddle, wet exit, and to roll.Helped lead various trips for students.
