I am the Senior Learning Designer of the Design & Technology division of the NextEd Group. I work with our tertiary education brands Coder Academy, Academy of Interactive Technology (AIT), and the International School of Colour & Design (ISCD), playing an integral role in the design and development of new course offerings, from the industry research phase through to subject design and build. I manage several projects at any one time, working closely with subject matter experts to ensure assessments and content are AQF-appropriate and deliver on the subject learning outcomes. I additionally provide administrative support and development of Canvas, including theme customisation.

As the senior educational designer in the online learning team, I was responsible for the planning, design and development of AIB’s fully online MBA programme. Working collaboratively with subject experts, media producers and editors, the programme was transformed from a static (PDF-based) distance model to a dynamic platform underpinned by rich media and interactivity, centred around social and experiential learning.

Teaching Innovation Unit (Aug. 2014 - Jul. 2016)I worked with lecturers and academic developers to redesign the first year of the Bachelor of IT and Data Analytics programme to fit a fully online 10-week teaching model. This involved a backward design approach through a complete redesign of the curriculum to break up subjects into smaller modules that could be taught linearly or independently. I was additionally responsible for the design and development of a small portfolio of UniSA’s undergraduate Engineering courses and those delivered through Open University Australia.School of Education (Oct. 2012 - Aug. 2014)As the Educational Designer for the School of Education's Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) project, I redesigned and developed the Bachelor of Education (early childhood, and primary) program, integrating both fully online, blended and hybrid modes of study. To support this new delivery mode, I implemented an online student orientation program for transitioning students to Higher Education and online study; initiated an online student community of practice; embedded the use of student ePortfolios within the program; and delivered staff development and training to support faculty in course development and writing, ePortfolios, and online facilitation.My role involved the writing of learning tasks, curation of teaching content, media creation, coaching online instructors, and implementing appropriate technologies. I ran professional development workshops in mobile technologies, managing and facilitating Moodle courses, and co-facilitated weekly course writing workshops with the School’s Academic Developer.

I led projects to pilot and evaluate educational technology systems, such as Equella (learning content repository - sharing & management), and LAMS (Learning Activity Management System).My involvement included:- requirements analysis & development of use cases- planning technical implementation- staff development - capability building, and championing new technologies

I provided quality learning design support and training, and media and web application development. I was responsible for encouraging the uptake of educational technologies, such as Blackboard and Adobe Connect, and ensuring staff development needs were met. I was actively involved in several university educational technology user groups and steering committees, making key contributions to the evaluation of technology platforms and the design of associated policy and procedures.

I specialised in developing effective websites, web applications, and databases, delivering creative, scalable and robust solutions with a strong UX focus to clients from industries including retail, manufacturing, tourism and education.

Providing leadership and support to a small team of designers and developers and managing a variety of (mostly) commercial website design and web application development projects.
