Ridgeway Middle School

As the Head of Schools at Ridgeway Middle, I led the school to become the only International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle School in West Tennessee. Under my leadership, Ridgeway improved its academic ranking under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) guidelines and was twice recognized as a Reward School by the state of Tennessee, showing measurable gains across all tested subjects. My focus on student-centered learning, coupled with a data-driven approach to instruction, led to a consistent rise in student performance over eight years.Through strategic planning, I facilitated the improvement of ELA scores by 8% and Math scores by 22%, establishing Ridgeway as a high-performing middle school. At Chickasaw Middle School, I led the reform effort known as “Fresh Starting” to turn around a school previously identified for low performance and high rates of negative student behavior. By creating a culture of high expectations for both students and staff, I was able to significantly improve academic outcomes and the overall school environment within a short time.Using a data-driven approach, we achieved a 6% increase in ELA scores and a 3% increase in Math scores. Most notably, I was able to lead the school out of the state’s low-performing list due to continuous academic growth, including a 2% increase in both ELA and Math in 2008. Within two years, we moved the school from "School Improvement" status to "Good Standing," a significant milestone for a school that had been on the Priority List since 2001.Additionally, I implemented behavior intervention programs that resulted in a 10% decrease in disciplinary incidents over four years. In this role, I managed the creation and maintenance of the master schedule, supported teacher evaluations, and ensured smooth operations related to textbooks, lockers, and equipment inventory.
