As Executive Director I led programming, partnerships and initiatives, worked with three governing boards, as well as secured funding and oversaw the staff and budget.During my tenure I initiated the Creative Catalyst Initiative to empower the next generation of artist leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators to lead, create and make; enhanced the perimeter of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts campus and south Winston-Salem through creative placemaking as a catalyst for creative businesses to stay, grow and thrive; and engaged the creative community across the Southeast to increase access, equity and inclusion across the sector.I launched UNCSA's Artist as Leader on line certificate to provides recent graduates and other artists with accessible, relevant and self-directed opportunities to strengthen their creative practices, their work with others and their capacity to make change in our society. During my tenure, through innovative programs and projects, the Kenan Institute positioned UNCSA as an innovative hub for the Southeast’s creative economy and provided extraordinary training and access for the next generation of artist-leaders so they can develop and achieve their highest potential.Founded by the Kenan Charitable Trust in 1993, The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts is an arts focused "think and do tank" affiliated with a leading arts conservatory in the USA, University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Under my leadership the Institute cultivated creative leadership, incubated ideas and built capacity among its stakeholders, working locally, regionally and nationally to leverage core support through a variety of strategic partnerships.
