Engineering Technical Lead for a $1.0B+ critical channel widening and levee design project for USACE Task Force Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico (TF VIPR) in Puerto Rico. Responsible for overseeing and leading a multi-disciplinary engineering design team, ensuring compliance with USACE and Puerto Rican regulations and standards, managing design schedules and budgets, resolving technical issues, and providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

As an Elected Director of the Huntington Post I oversee the operations and ensure it aligns with the strategic plan for the Society and work collaboratively with other Post board members to plan and execute various initiatives and activities that support the professional development of members, promote networking, and advance the engineering profession in the local community. As an Elected Director, I'm responsible for ensuring the Post operates efficiently, adheres to the organization's bylaws, and maintains financial stability. Overall, I am committed to playing a crucial role in ensuring the success of the Post and contributing to the growth and advancement of the A/E/C industry at both the local, regional, and national levels.

Provided overall direction and management of the COI by establishing goals and objectives annually that align with the Society’s Strategic Plan, goals, objectives, and focus areas. Represented the COI and Society YPs as a voting member on the National Board of Direction. Fill Leadership Team positions as needed to accomplish the mission of the COI.

As Secretary, I’m responsible for all COI meeting minutes and correspondence of Monthly COI and Executive Leadership meetings. Work alongside Chair on day-to-day activities such as implementation of SAME initiatives, support to local Post YP’s, and COI initiatives.

Project Technical Lead and Civil Engineer for complex civil site features of large civil works construction projects such as levees, floodwalls, roadways, facilities, water distribution systems and sanitary sewer utilities. Plan, organize and direct the combined efforts of a team of engineering technical staff members in preparing design reports, contract plans and specifications. Develop project schedules and budgets for the technical elements of a Project Delivery Team (PDT). Prepare engineering drawings, detailed plans, technical specifications, quantity estimates, general designs, and computations for civil engineering features of projects. Review and check contract drawings, quantity estimates and technical provisions of the specifications for conformance with good engineering practice. Represent the District when dealing with local, state, and municipal authorities and is primary point of contact on technical issues with customers. Provide advice and guidance to lower level engineers, technicians and other employees on solutions to technical problems.Projects included a $125M+ flood risk reduction levee/floodwall design, a $963M+ dam safety modification design and construction, and a $1.8M support to the Veterans Health Administration for surveying and BIM model development of existing medical facilities.

Engineering Manager of the Bluestone Dam Safety Assurance Mega-Project responsible for the development of the project budget, schedule, and deliverables for the Dam Safety Modification Study ($963M). Planned, programmed, and oversaw cost and schedule execution of E&C deliverables, as well as facilitate and ensured resolution of technical issues and comments across disciplines within the PDT. Led the development of product-specific components of the Quality Management Plan (QMP) to ensure the technical quality of all Engineering and Construction (E&C) deliverables such as the Review Plan (RP) and other necessary quality procedures. Ensured the production of technical deliverables from the project delivery team (PDT) are in accordance with the Project Management Plan (PMP) and district-established Quality Management System (QMS).Independently developed the design modifications, preparation of design engineering documents including calculations, narratives, and drawings showing all necessary dimensions, member sizes, and spacing of the primary and second stage stilling basins. Independently determined loading assumptions from conceptual, schematic, or study drawings and data provided by DSPC personnel to provide solutions for the most critical hydraulic velocities and uplift through applying loads in the structural stability analysis to determine the required sizes of structural components such as post-tensioning anchors and spacing of reinforcing steel in accordance with all applicable structural engineering codes, standards, and regulations. Evaluated the stability of mass concrete gravity structures, including the effects of uplift, hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, and other critical loads. Supported Operations and Construction for the DSA Phases 3 ($72M) and 4 ($95M) through review of work performed by AE contractors (shop drawings, requests for information (RFI), and construction drawings) to ensure quality and conformance with contract requirements.

Project Design Team member supporting the Dam Safety Production/Mandatory Center of Expertise on the Bluestone Dam Safety Assurance Project including development of Phase 3 and 4 Design Documentation Reports, design of Penstock Scour Protection Stilling Basin including design and analysis of multi-strand and bar rock anchors, reinforcement design, stability analysis and review of Contractor submitted shop drawings. Provided regional support to the USACE Detroit District assisting senior level engineers and architects with the design of an Operations and Maintenance Building for Soo Locks. Responsible for the design of exterior masonry walls, stair and elevator enclosures, structural floor slabs, foundation system and steel structure. Responsible for the development of plans, specifications and Design Documentation Report and submitted final reports and design to the Detroit District.Provided support to Operations and Maintenance Section. Designed structural steel support frames for Hydraplatform inspection equipment. Inspection equipment is used for inspection, maintenance and repair of tainter gate line shafts, dam crane bridges and other project features along the Ohio River. Developed plans and specifications for design.

Served on the SAME National Board of Direction as the College Outreach COI Chair. As a member of the Board of Direction, I served to develop goals, metrics, and a vision for SAME and the 2015-2020 SAME Strategic Plan. More recently, I led over 10 COI members during a task force to contact all 68 Chapters including the Post Presidents, Chapter Mentors, and Faculty Advisers. In addition, I coordinated with the YP COI Chair on a national initiative to transition student members to young members upon graduation and encourage continued participation in SAME to enhance and develop as practicing professionals or active duty military officers. As Chair of the SAME College Outreach COI, I was responsible for supporting Post’s efforts in the mentoring and development of future professionals at over 60 SAME Student Chapters at universities and colleges across the nation and provide opportunities for building professional relationships between practicing professionals and students. As Chair, I developed and facilitated four multi-day workshops averaging 60 attendees. Previously served as the Vice-Chair for the SAME College Outreach COI for 5 years and organized and facilitated the 2011-2014 SAME Student Leaders Workshops. Led the development of the Student Chapter Guidance Manual used by SAME student chapters providing best practices, roles and responsibilities and other vital information used to help develop and sustain student chapters.

As the Vice-Chair for the SAME National College Outreach Committee for 3 years, I have been responsible for:- Coordinating with College Outreach representatives and student chapters to assist with post and chapter problems or concerns;- Increasing student members and chapters in colleges and universities by introducing engineering and science fields through collaboration of institutions with military, private and public SAME members;- Organized and facilitated the 2011 and 2012 SAME Student Leaders Workshop held for student members nationwide. These Workshops allow student officers the opportunity to speak with student, industry and military leaders about best practices, career development and engineering opportunities in the public, private and military sectors. Events included site visits to local military and public construction sites, dinners with SAME Presidents Maj. Gen. Tim Byers (USAF Civil Engineer) and Rear Adm. Chris Mossey (Naval Facilities Engineering Command and chief of Civil Engineers);- Development of Student Chapter Guidance Manual used by SAME student chapters providing best practices, roles and responsibilities and other vital information used to help develop and sustain student chapters.
