Warfare certification management via teleconference, Excel tracking and forecasting, weekly presentation to inform decision makers and redirect resources (maintenance / training / discretionary budget).

USS KAUFFMAN (FFG 59) -pictured in background-Single ship maintenance and certification. Oversight of combat systems, engineering, and navigation. Managed ship's maintenance project (with designated Project Officer and Port Engineer) through multiple availabilities. Changed organizational culture to adopt nuclear "watchstanding principles" with a focus on procedural compliance and safety. Human resource management for 200+ personnel.

Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC)Deployable planner specializing in team problem solving using the operational design methodology (environment/problem/approach). Deployed to Afghanistan and chartered the Rule of Law Interagency Planning and Implementation Team (IPIT) to enable collaborative planning and coordinated execution of multiple agencies and international partners in advancing the rule of law.

Commander, Naval Air Forces PacificMaintenance, policy, budget oversight of multiple nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. Coordinated day-to-day operations of three teams (San Diego, Yokosuka, Everett) with respective program managers via daily morning call. Briefed 3-star admiral weekly and as needed on items of command interest.

USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62)Second-in-command, responsible for all aspects of operations and administration in ship of 300+ personnel. Good order and discipline, junior officer mentorship, professionalism, culture, smart appearance of ship. Executed Cruiser Modernization package (systems integration, upgrade, testing) in less then six months, then certified all warfare areas in less than six weeks. Best Maintenance and Material Management (3M) system certification score in class.

USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75)Achieved 100% crew readiness for all DPIA milestones and propulsion plant tests by executing a comprehensive series of mutually supporting training events for over 400 Sailors to recertify operations on a live nuclear reactor; plan promulgated by Type Commander as model for Atlantic Fleet. Managed junior officer and retention and professional development by implementing "SWOS-at-Sea" and watch officer training programs; arranged cross-deck opportunities for officers in need of sea time.

Split option reserveBoot camp MCRD San Diego, monthly drills with unit at Selfridge ANGB while full time college student at Michigan State (Mech Eng, Honors College), specialty training in Camp Lejeune. Transferred to Navy in July 1993 via Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program, commissioning April 1995.
