Performed research on materials for economically competitive solar photovoltaic cells. My group specializes in solution-processed solar cells based on a material called CZTS (Cu2ZnSnS4). I synthesized and characterized CZTS nanocrystals and investigated the impacts of different surface treatments on CZTS films to be used in photovoltaic devices.Outcomes: proved that bare, selenized CZTS absorber layers degrade when exposed to air, but that certain treatments retard this process; demonstrated that CZTS nanocrystals can be dispersed in both polar and nonpolar solvents; developed Mathematica code for analyzing large volumes of photoluminescence data; wrote Mathematica code based on advanced model for current-voltage analysis of PV devicesProficient: chemistry wet lab techniques and safety, nanocrystal synthesis, lab scale thin film solar cell fabrication, electron microscope imaging, solar cell performance analysis, Mathematica, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), photoluminescence measurements and analysis, Raman and IR spectroscopy, EDAX, XRD
