Building modern ML-enabled design and simulation software for chemistry.

Graduate student in the Jacobsen Group working on a variety of projects at the interface between organic, computational, and analytical chemistry. Some highlights:- Developed a high-throughput method for determining enantiomeric excess of crude reaction mixtures with multiple products, which we used to study the generality of various asymmetric catalysts in the Pictet–Spengler reaction.- Performed experimental and computational studies of the mechanism of a catalytic asymmetric Prins cyclization, including developing a colorimetric pKa assay, kinetic isotope effects, reaction kinetics, DOSY spectroscopy, coupled-cluster calculations and quasiclassical ab initio molecular dynamics.- Investigated the solution structure of ethereal hydrogen chloride using in situ IR spectroscopy, quantum chemistry, and ab initio molecular dynamics. We concluded that in many solvents proton transfer to the ether is essentially complete, which explains several puzzling experimental observations from the literature.- Developed and maintained multiple open-source projects in computational chemistry.

Undergraduate researcher in the Buchwald Group building new ligands for C–F coupling with 5-membered heteroarenes and investigating new electrophiles for C–N coupling. Discovered a new, extremely bulky ligand featuring a central hexasubstituted arene and published a users' guide to C–N coupling.

Undergraduate researcher in the Imperiali Group developing new antibiotics for Campylobacter jejuni. Designed new synthetic routes, made molecules, and evaluated their efficacy in various in vitro and in vivo assays.
