My proudest moments:⭐ 2022 - I was appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to serve as a commissioner with the OneStar Foundation's National Service Commission. ⭐ 2023 - Received the Award of Merit and the 2009 Outstanding New Volunteer Administrator Award from the National Association of Volunteer Programs in Local Government⭐ 2019 - Received a national IMPACT Award from the Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement⭐ Since 2021, I’ve been the facilitator for CNM’s Volunteer Management Certificate Program which includes teaching two cohorts a year along with leading the Volunteer Management session for the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program several times a year. ⭐ Credentialed with the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration since 2012.I’m all-in when it comes to municipal volunteer programs. Spending the last 19 years as a Hispanic leader in local government specifically centered on volunteerism has taught me many things. I’ve learned that engaging the community in service is a meaningful way to build deep relationships with neighbors and garner support for City programs and services. Each volunteer that I interview is truly unique, has a complex background and wants to donate their skills and experiences. Municipalities must be open to these amazing donations of time and talents and hire a dynamic volunteer engagement professional to oversee and run a professional volunteer department. I take great care in representing the volunteer perspective and advocating for volunteer opportunities for teens, working adults and older adults at my organization.
