As a lab animal veterinarian and director, I am grateful to be part of the one-health community and the shared vision for improving health and wellness. I value the unique perspective that my profession brings by working with and leading a team of professionals with a wide variety of specialties, including business, basic science, engineering, and medical-surgical. I have a big-picture approach to my work and use strategic methods to consider all impacts; scientific, social, and environmental.Over the last decade, I built a career with Tufts University, beginning as an Associate Staff Veterinarian before a promotion to Assistant Director of the Surgical Research Laboratories, and Director of Preclinical Services, which ultimately lead me to my current role at Mass General Hospital as Director, Center of Comparative Medicine & Attending Veterinarian this fall of 2023. My education and clinical experience in medicine, surgery, and management allow me to employ resourcefulness to optimize research results. I am a data-driven specialist with a proven track record of ensuring regulatory compliance while improving processes and decreasing liabilities to streamline results. I promote collaboration and communication for optimal teamwork as a director, focusing on organizational objectives.I am a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and a Certified Surgical Research Specialist (SRS) with a DVM from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. I’ve been fortunate to serve on the Board of Xeptiva Therapeutics, as a Committee Chair for Squam Lakes Conservation Society Next Generation and the Laboratory Animal Sciences BioConference Live. My committee memberships include the ASLAP Program Committee and the ASR Communication Committee.I have published and presented on various topics, from animal model development to behavior modification and post-surgical recovery. I’ve been honored with the Henry E. Childers Teaching Award from Tuft Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and the American Animal Hospital Association Award and won 1st place in competitions hosted by the MSMR Symposium Enrichment Poster Competition the AALAS Quad Symposium in the Husbandry and Management Categories.I’m a lifelong learner and continually strive to improve my knowledge and expertise in an ever-expanding field. I thrive on opportunities to collaborate while encouraging growth personally and professionally and look forward to the path my career takes.
