Clinical: Grady Memorial Hospital, Georgia State University, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Met with patients and charted using the ADIME format to include: nutrition assessment, diagnosis using problem, etiology, signs, and symptoms (PES) statements, interventions, and recommendations to monitor and evaluate patient progress.-Provided Medical Nutrition Therapy recommendations to patients with nutrition-related disease states, including diabetes type I and II, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, cancer, and heart disease.-Provided parenteral and enteral nutrition orders for patients unable to consume food orally. -Utilized various counseling techniques, including motivational interviewing and behavior change theory in an inpatient and outpatient setting to help facilitate behavioral changes.Enrichment: Skyland Trail, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Used various counseling techniques to aid individuals in their recovery from disordered eating/eating disorders.-Provided Medical Nutrition Therapy to ensure patients were receiving enough protein and calories for adequate growth and weight maintenance.-Evaluated and applied emerging research on Medical Nutrition Therapy for various disease conditions, including eating disorders, congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease, and PICU guidelines.Community -Developed nutrition education handouts, presentations, and food demonstrations to meet the needs of a specific community, including low-carbohydrate snacks for diabetes, the importance of drinking water, and increasing vegetable consumption.-Assisted in developing educational presentations on how nutrition affects chronic disease for Georgia State’s Employee Wellness Program. -Educated students at Panther’s Pantry and Georgia State University’s Rec Center on how to eat healthy on a budget and achieve nutrition goals by making small changes to achieve a bigger goal.

-Provided nutrition education to college students on MyPlate on topics including plant-based proteins, balancing meals, whole grains, portion sizes, reading food labels, and limiting sugary-sweetened beverages.-Planed, executed, and evaluated the effectiveness of outreach events, including events on plant-based eating, mindful eating, and general healthy eating.-Maintained and produced content for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook to promote weekly tablings and monthly education events.-Coordinated food demonstrations with Resident Assistants on various topics, including eating healthy on a budget, meal planning/prepping, and general healthy eating.

-Designed and taught a nutrition-related lesson plan to 20 middle-school students in the classroom setting using a hands-on cooking experience.-Developed kid-friendly recipes using minimal equipment that matched the components of MyPlate, including fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy. -Communicated weekly with the director of the program and supervisor of the school about weekly recipes and the type and amount of ingredients needed for the recipe.

-Participated in meetings every night with other lead counselors and camp director to discuss daily challenges and convey messages to other counselors in my cabin. -Supervised children at camp while teaching them about a healthy lifestyle in a way that is fun and understandable.-Followed a rigorous camp schedule, including taking campers to receive their medications at meal times/bed time, adjust schedule based on campers needs.
