Member of the MLCA board which entails attending monthly board meetings and contributing to decision-making on community development, recreation, and social/educational events for the Marda Loop Communities. I chair the Sustainability standing committee which organizes community engagement and educational events to promote the 17 United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals and develops sustainable initiatives/action plans to address some of these goals within the MLCA community. This committee encourages energy conservation, use of renewable energy, minimal waste (especially plastics) and offers support, training and recognition to local businesses for sustainable business practices. As well, we are responsible for the co-ordination of the annual community clean-up event to divert household waste.
