Since mid-2015, managed multiple Data Science projects where large scale data analytics was used to build propensity models for predicting customers’ problems (e.g. financial distress, bill shock, churn) and proactively targeting them. Up until January 2016, managed the development and delivery of America Movil’s mobile portal in Latin America (17 countries) providing web services for 420M+ subscriber. Worked with internal and external customer operations teams, engineers, managers and others to plan, develop and deliver the product roadmap, resolve production incidents and change requests from our customers.

Working within the R&D department, I was responsible for the design & implementation of a highly scalable and performant distributed personalisation engine built on Oracle Coherence and Oracle Berkely DB. In addition, solely responsible for the identification, design and implementation of an automated functional test harness using Bash, Ant & JUnit which was nominated for design award. This harness was subsequently rolled out throughout the organisation. Acted as ScrumMaster for duration of project.

thecitysecret ltd. works with Reuters to develop Reuters Trading for Exchanges (RTEx) iPhone Edition March 2008 - December 2008Responsible for the conception, design, development, testing and delivery of a multi-tier, high-capacity, scaleable and resilient Java server which provides an interface for the iPhone application to the RTEx UPAPI (below). The system gives Reuters’ clients the ability to monitor RTEx trades remotely with live market data direct to their iPhone.As with RTEx, the Java server was written using TDD and mock object, together with testing harnesses written for both the Java server and the iPhone application. A custom mock objects implementation also had to be written for the iPhone testing.

Employed as a sub-contractor through thecitysecret Ltd.Responsible for the design and development of a multi-tier Java Swing applet which provides a front-end to an exchange trading system. The system gives Reuter’s clients the capability to trade across mixed asset classes via executing brokers.The applet extends an internal framework known as the Unified Portals API: a class library that implements functionality common to trading applications in financial markets. The applet has been developed using Agile & Scrum, including agile software development methods based on extreme programming (XP) and test-driven development (TDD). To support this approach, automated unit tests and mock objects have been implemented across the user interface, business and protocol (XML) tiers.

Developed a workflow management system using JBoss jBPM 3.0 and JavaServer Faces to manage and control the conversion of raw video, GPS and IMU feeds into a user-friendly database centric web application. This conversion process originally took two engineers one month to complete, whereas now, two untrained staff complete the process in two days. In addition, | worked on a Real Time Positioning System for Network Rail to monitor the positions and check the operational status of their trains. This project uses Oracle 10g Spatial with a Hibernate persistence layer, Spring framework, and JavaServer Facelets for the front end.

Continued development of a complex rental and hire system. The conversion of a long running and very robust 4GL system into a Java J2EE based replacement. Based on bean managed entity beans and session beans with a HTTP tunnel for RMI calls to a Progress database. The client systems are currently JSP and Java Swing but designs are underway for XML and others.The Java code is pattern based and designed with Object Oriented methodologies. The code is built with Jakarta Ant and versions are stored using CVS. The system is deployed on JRun 3.1/4 with prototypes running on JBoss and Orion/Oracle 9iAS.

NSP are an Irish based company who were branching out into the UK market. I was hired as their UK Operations Manager and I was given the task of setting up a UK office and building a development team. Along-side my managerial duties, my main role was that of a software developer, working mainly with Java, but also carrying out work with PHP, JSP and XML. Unfortunately, NSP UK was disbanded by its’ parent company following a change in strategic direction.

I was a Java/C++ developer writing native Win32 and Java cryptography libraries and applications for use in e-Commerce. Some of my projects included writing JNI applications, writing PKCS#11 (hardware based cryptography) interfaces and both signed and persistent applets.
