COMMODITY TRADER - BASE METALSPosition running (running of the 'nickel book'):• Physical purchases and sales of a wide range of nickel products (incl nickel briquettes, nickel cathodes, nickel granules, nickel sinter, and Ferronickel) of various grades, origins and sources to a large portfolio of nickel consumers like stainless and alloy steel producers, foundries, and chemical companies on a worldwide basis but with a strong focus on the European market.• The constant gathering of relevant market information with the purpose of being able to anticipate and/or react timely and appropriately to changing market conditions.• Acquisition. • Account management; maintaining contact with all the relevant market parties like nickel producers, nickel consumers, LME brokers, banks, warehouses, and other trading houses. This also involves extensive international travelling.• The preparation and submittal of bids & offers as well as the subsequent follow-up.• The conclusion of purchase and sales contracts (both on a long term as well as spot basis) with a constant focus on risk management, amongst other things with the aid of exchange and future contracts (hedging).• Steering of the back-office employees while preserving the end-responsibility for a proper execution of the contracts.• Management reports.Specialties: Negotiation, purchasing, sales, account management, "position running", risk management, polyglot (fluent in English, Spanish, French, German, and Dutch), international trade, exchange based hedging (LME)Achievements: By actively identifying, establishing first and maintaining follow-up contacts I have personally developed long-lasting commercial relationships with most of the small & midsize European nickel consumers. As a result the focus of the nickel book was changed from 100% spot sales to a more healthy balance between long term and spot contracts, and thereby greatly increasing volumes, turnover speed as well as profitability.
