CurrentI hold a PhD in Biology and have been working as a scientific expert at the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) since 2002. My tasks within UV-radiation are 1) to evaluate health effects, and to develop and implement suitable radiation protection concepts, 2) to initiate and coordinate research projects funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), 3) to advise the Federal Government and support the BMU in drafting and implementing statutory regulations, 4) to coordinate the UV Protection Alliance (http://www.bfs.de/EN/topics/opt/uv/alliance/alliance_node.html), which currently focuses on the establishment of structural prevention measures for the prophylaxis of UV-related diseases, in particular skin cancer, 5) to hold lectures and training courses for multipliers on this topic and 6) to work closely with the WHO as part of the INTERSUN programme (e.g. development of the WHO brochure "Artificial tanning devices: public health interventions to manage sunbeds" https://www.who.int/uv/publications/artificial-tanning-devices/en).
