Our undertaking was to connect people with our unique natural heritage.• Rātā café was a further source of revenue and required to be marketed as wedding or corporate function venue.• Working with our supporters to secure funding. Zealandia was managed by Karori Sanctuary Trust and is a not-for profit charitable trust. We relied on a variety of sources for funding and other support. My stakeholder engagement experience includes: Department of Conservation, Victoria University, Meridian Energy, The Greater Wellington Regional Council, Forest and Bird, and many more.• Volunteer engagement: Without the support of our volunteers the everyday running of the Sanctuary would have been impossible. Volunteer roles required varying levels of skills, experience, availability and fitness as well as committed time frames. Appreciation and guidance are a key requirement to work successfully with volunteers.
