About Cornelia Kaufmann

I am a part-time and distance learning PhD student at the School of Advanced Study, University of London. As a doctoral researcher, I am combining my strengths of research, writing, and teaching, as well as my passions for culture, languages, literature and the environment, to write my dissertation on Pacific Islander eco-poetry and colonialism. I work full-time as a marketing coordinator.Next to studying for my PhD, I have been an English and German teacher since 2017, teaching individuals and small groups on levels A1-C1 of the CEFR, with particular emphasis on grammar, pronunciation, and exam prep for all standard language certificates. It is always rewarding and a joy to see my students apply their new language skills with increasing confidence. Next to being fluent in the languages I teach, I am conversational in French and have basic skills in Spanish, all of which I have used in professional settings. My background in the media and 10+ years of experience as a journalist, editor, and photographer working for German- and English-language publications have helped me hone my skills as an interviewer, multilingual writer, and photojournalist. In these roles, I have covered every newsdesk from local daily politics and business to travel.
