My year-long internship through Ursuline college required the completion of 56 projects in educational leadership. I completed more than 800 administrative hours during the internshipProjects encompassed all areas of school leadership, such as, Institutional Philosophy, Curriculum and Instruction, Staff and Pupil Personnel Services, School Law and Finance, Community Relations and Instructional Leadership.I handled student discipline issues, assisted in putting behavior and other support systems in place for individual students, and tended to a variety of other pupil personnel services. I worked on comprehensive projects with community stakeholders with the goal of enhancing our students' learning experiences. I attended PTA meetings and communicated with PTA members on a regular basis for the purpose of coordinating and organizing school events. I collaborated with teachers and support staff on student issues requiring special attention and interventions. I communicated with the school psychologist, the counselor and the social worker on a regular basis for the purpose of identifying and coordinating resources and effective interventions. I cultivated relationships with parents and other stakeholders as a means of articulating and pursuing our school's vision and mission. I served as the advisor/mentor to approximately 100 Kuwaiti students in post-graduate dentistry programs, physicians in residency training programs and Master's degree students all over the US and Canada. I matched post-graduate dentistry students with the most appropriate program based on their undergraduate achievement and interest in their chosen post-graduate field. I assisted in developing contractual agreements between Kuwait and US dentistry schools for placement of our candidates. I acquired and utilized extensive knowledge of postgraduate dental training programs. I assured compliance with a variety of policies and procedures of an extensive scholarship program. The position required timely and accurate communication and reporting, quick and decisive decision-making.I monitored students' academic progress and assured proper transfer of scholarship funds to academic institutions and other related entities.My work required daily interaction with students, assisting them in solving academic and personal issues. My role as a mentor related to helping students to smoothly integrate into American society and to develop lifelong relationships with people and their academic institutions. I viewed this part of my job as a very important contribution in the development of global awareness and appreciation for and understanding of foreign cultures.My work required a high degree of interpersonal sensitivity, a keen awareness of cultural differences, excellent contracting and negotiating skills, superb communication and organizational talent, the ability to meet deadlines 100%, self-direction and self-motivation and a superior work ethic.

I taught the Intensive German I course for one year as part of my practical training as an international student. My students were college students at The American University fulfilling the foreign language requirement of their course of study. I devised the course syllabus for a whole year, designed course units and individual lessons based on the departments course of study. Students developed conversational, listening and understanding skills. They were introduced to grammatical, semantic and lexicological concepts.I developed learning activities appropriate for an intensive level beginner course, designed effective assessments and provided students with feedback to assure progress and ever increasing knowledge and understanding of the language. The design of the course provided a thorough analysis of material, authentic experiences, such as native speaker exposure through different media and opportunities for application of learned content. I set high expectations for my students for independent learning and practice of the language outside the classroom to assure maximum retention and development of conversational skills through repeated practice and exposure. I exposed students to the language with increasing degree of frequency and difficulty as they were progressing through the course.I designed the course as a combination of immersion methodology and formal study of the language. This methodology required the construction of interactive and performance oriented learning experiences with immediate feedback opportunities. I focused on the student's application of language skills modeled on language acquisition mechanisms as opposed to language learning mechanisms. I also provided opportunities for formal study of the language by introducing students to basics of morphology, lexicology and semantics of the German language in comparison to English.
