As a SAIR for Saudi Aramco in VID\QMU (Quality Monitoring Unit), I was responsible for all quality procurement aspects of all upstream and infrastructure projects. As part of the Project Management Team (PMT), the SAIR verifies effectiveness and implementation of the Contractor’s quality program and compliance with contractual quality requirements. Some of the specific functions include: Procurement Quality Plan approval, Contractor quality personnel approval, Material Requisition and Inspection Assignment Package approval and to monitor Contractor’s inspection activities to ensure procured materials are in compliance with project requirements. Project values were up to USD 1 Bln and consist of materials such as Pressure Vessels, Centrifugal Pumps, Chemical Injection Skids, Flares, Boilers, (Control) Valves, Fittings, Line Pipe, Switchgear, ESD, VMS, DCS etc.Besides my tasks as a SAIR (Saudi Aramco Inspection Representative) for Upstream Projects, as a Group Leader I was responsible for the performance of 5 Inspection Engineers assigned as SAIRs for Community and Public Projects. These tasks comprise of Performance Management, development planning, mentoring etc. I have also mentored and trained 3 young Engineers to be successful SAIRs.

As a Quality Coordinator/Engineer QC/QA/QM for ASC, (subsidiary of Saudi Aramco), I was responsible for coordinating, directing and monitoring the quality control and quality monitoring services provided by contract inspection agencies and their inspectors. This function required me to set and manage the budgets that agencies are allowed to use to complete the required inspection duties set forth by me and the Saudi Aramco specifications. In addition, I was responsible to guide and supervise the third-party inspectors to ensure a high standard of purchased goods is delivered to site in Saudi Arabia. Subjects for inspection were mainly valves of all kinds and sizes, Rotating Equipment skids, flanges and fittings, drill casing, line pipe, OCTG and various rotating machinery which is purchased through ASC for use in the Oil & Gas industry in Saudi Arabia.In addition to my functions at AOC (2002 – 2007), at ASC I also performed manufacturer plant audits in order to qualify them to be able to supply equipment to Saudi Aramco based on technical capabilities and ISO 9000.To ensure consistent quality, I frequently visited manufacturers all over North America to ensure that all purchased goods are manufactured to Saudi Aramco specifications set forth in the purchase Order.Some Quality Monitoring jobs were for the SATORP, Yanbu and Manifa projects.
Sr. Project Engineer
As a Senior Process Systems Engineer, my responsibilities were the full development of P&ID’s and its related deliverables through the necessary hydraulic/line sizing calculations and liaison with other disciplines. I have worked on a Crude Rebuild Project of a refinery that was partly burned down, a Gasification plant producing ammonia for which I was responsible to develop the Sulfur Recovery Unit P&ID’s followed by refinery de-bottlenecking and expansion project for which I did hydraulic calculations and develop the Design Pressure and Temperature conditions. My last project was a grassroots 3.4 Mtpa LNG plant to be developed in Gladstone Australia. The Unit I was responsible for is the LNG storage and off-loading facilities development which included hydraulic calculations and implementing surge analysis results into newly developed P&ID’s. Besides utilizing Bechtel’s hydraulic simulation software for line sizing and equipment sizing, I also analyzed and evaluated new revisions of the software before it was released.

As a Group Leader QC for AOC, (subsidiary of Saudi Aramco), I was responsible for a group of 5 Inspectors in addition to my regular duties as Inspection Engineer / Coordinator as described below.The group Leader supervises the activities of the Inspection Engineers and is responsible for the daily operations of the QC activities. The Group Leader is also responsible for directing the Inspection Engineers for assigning work to Inspection Agencies under contract, and for the quality of their performance. As an Inspection Engineer / Coordinator QC for AOC, (subsidiary of Saudi Aramco), I was responsible for coordinating, directing and monitoring the quality control and quality monitoring services provided by contract inspection agencies and their inspectors. I gained significant experience with API 5L and 5CT among other mainly American standards.To ensure consistent quality, I frequently visited manufacturers all over Europe and Russia to ensure that all purchased goods are manufactured to Saudi Aramco specifications set forth in the purchase Order.I received a Certificate of Appreciation in July 2006 for a cost savings of $400,000 on Inspection contract negotiations.
