30+ years of broad international experience in more than 50 countries in the private sector and institutional development of Food Safety and Food Technology. Over 70 short- and long-term consultancy assignments have been conducted in the position of free-lance consultant and contractor at international consultancy companies through EU-funded projects and United Nations organisations (UNIDO, FAO, WHO, IFC and the World Bank). Prior to becoming a free-lance consultant, I held various supervisory and management positions at multinational food processing companies.Specific work experience includes:- Training, consultancy, implementation and third-party auditing based on GFSI-benchmarked standards in a wide range of food products of both plant and animal origin; - Food supply-chain and gap analyses, with emphasis on the food safety issues of products that are of both plant and animal origin. The analyses are benchmarked against the criteria of the EU food law, EU hygiene package, EU food safety parameters and/or Codex Alimentarius standards;- Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) studies, based on the guidance documents of two of the three Sister organisations (FAO, IPPC) to identify levels of compliance according to international requirements;- Review of GOST food safety standards and legislation in CIS countries, benchmarked against EU legislation and/or the Codex Alimentarius in order to identify the level of prescriptive legislation to prevent gold-plated legislation;- Implementation of food safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and productivity KPIs in the food industry; - Experience with strengthening a National Quality Infrastructure related to laboratory accreditation and standardization;- Hands-on experience with capacity-building programmes of HACCP, GMP, GHP, PRPs, traceability, food defense and training of food inspectors based on modern inspection techniques, such as HACCP.Recent working experience is provided below.
