Säröhus is a cozy little hotel on the west coast of Sweden near Kungsbacka. In that restaurant I worked both as waiter and shift leader - preparing the guest seating each evening, assigning all waiters stations, and making sure the restaurant is prepared for service.

Arctic River Lodge, Tärendö, Sweden

Arctic River Lodge is, as Aurora Mountain Lodge, is part of Explore The North hotels and follows the same structure (winter activities for guests). The hotel opened in July 2018, and I started working here in September 2018. My duties as a waiter (and bartender, for 2 days per week) were serving of drinks and foods in the restaurant during the evenings. Inside the bar, I was working mostly with doing cocktails and offering a relaxed atmosphere in the hotel lounge. Since the hotel was newly opened, I had the pleasant opportunity in working together with the restaurant chefs in deciding on our wine and drinks selection, as well as restaurant organization.

By far the restaurant where I worked for the longest period, it was also an amazing experience. The restaurant in which i worked, 'La Famille' is a really friendly and elegant dining place, offering a breakfast and lunch buffet, and an 'a la carte' service during the evenings with 3 or 4 courses meniu. During the summers we had also weddings and companies held conferences. It was a pleasure working with such a dynamic team and a very professional working environment.

Aurora Mountain Lodge, Lannavaara, Norrbottens Län, Sweden

Aurora Mountain Lodge's gates opened for guests for the first time 2 weeks before I started working here. It offers them, besides bed accommodation and restaurant service, a variety of winter activities such as: snowmobile tours, ice-fishing, and husky-sledges. My duties as a waiter were serving of drinks and foods in the restaurant and lounge during the evenings, and keeping the said areas tidy. Maintaining a friendly atmosphere and helping guests with their questions is also necessary. Working tightly with my colleagues we have managed to have what we think a very successful winter season. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer much outside winter activities, and was closed during the summer season, making it necessary for me to find work somewhere else. Which I did at Falkenberg Strandbad.

Cluj-Napoca

While my time working at STA Travel was short, it was a very new and interesting experience! the job it's self required a lot of focus and attention to details. Who would have known changing just one flight could be so complicated? But it was very challenging and I especially liked solving client's e-mail problems, where I had time to analyze and go over earlier events to find out what happened and what to do next. Taking phone calls was a bit more stressful as it required fast reactions a lot of patience (people who just missed their flight calling from the airport aren't very happy as a rule). But it was a really nice working place and I am very grateful for STA Travel for teaching me so much and giving me this chance!The most tiring part was sitting on an office chair all those long night shifts, and one of the main reasons why i decided this job was not for me. That and the fact that I unexpectedly got a job in Sweden, the country I wanted so much to move to!

Ásborgir, Selfoss, Iceland

This small hotel is situated in the Icelandic wildness approximately 15 km from Selfoss, Iceland's second biggest city. My duties include preparing the service area, cleaning the restaurant, serving the clients drinks and foods (à la carte menu and buffet). The hotel hosts conferences, weddings and other events for larger parties.Preparations for said events are always required. Besides the restaurant service, I alsohelped with washing dishes, or housekeeping when required.

Cluj-Napoca, Cluj County, Romania

At Samsara, we were serving only vegetarian and vegan foods, therefore there were a lot of specialties to learn different than mainstream restaurants. I have learned a lot about different kind of green foods, and eating healthy. My main responsibilities were to clean the serving and bar area before opening, greeting and seating new clients, helping them decide on their menu and drinks, serving the selected meals, keeping a record of the client's tabs using a POS system and making sure all the bills werecorrectly paid. As the restaurant also offered home deliveries, I occasionally took client orders over the telephone.As the restaurant had a booth during the 'Electric Castle' Festival, I also served foods and drink there, and helped with the uninstalling of the booth after the 4 day concert finished.

Trying to see how it is to work in other fields than food and beverage, I have workedfor several months at Gameloft, where my responsibilities were in testing differentapplications under development. Most of my testing was in CRM (Costumer RelatedManagement) but also in testing events, stress, compatibility, differences to the GDDand others.I have learned a lot during my time there, and spent nights to meet deadlines. Ourmain project was launched with success, it's name is Dragon Mania Legends and it canbe downloaded from Play Store or iStore!

A small and friendly hotel with a long history as a hunting lodge, now appreciated for it's typical English tranquility. At this hotel I have learned not only about restaurant service, but also hotel upkeep. As a general assistant, my duties were mostly waiter related ( as the hotel had 2 restaurants, opened for the most parts of the day). I prepared the restaurant for service in the morning, and fixed the breakfast buffet.Lunch, and afternoon teas were also served during the day. 4 course meals and 'a la carte' menus were served during the evenings. Besides serving I sometimes helped with washing dishes or helping new clients register at the reception and find their rooms if necessary.The hotel also catered for weddings and hunting parties, so together with the other staff members we were also responsible for preparing the rooms and tables, and serving for organized larger groups. An event I had the opportunity to be part of was the 2014 Tour de France, as the tour's route was right along our hotel's street. My role was mostly serving drinks at a stand for the many bicycling enthusiasts.

Although my stay at Cavo Maris was short as due to a severe tooth problem that Ihad to return to Romania to fix, it was a wonderful experience. The Cypriot hotelsituated right next to the Mediterranean Sea offered nightly entertainment for it'squests. My role as a waiter was to serve mostly drinks, as food was were seldom soldin the entertainment area of the restaurant. Keeping track of bills was also required.

My first job ever was at Nausicaa Hotel Apartments. Here I was taught the basics ofhow to work in a restaurant and in a bar. How to handle guests and how to work withothers to offer the best service possible. The reason for the gap between the workingdates is because the hotel is opened only during the summer seasons, but I haveworked at this hotel for 4 years while it was open. The hotel offers entertainment everyevening, and my role was to take care at the bar next to the stage. I was in charge oftaking the required bar items from the store to the bar, cleaning it, making sure it was fixed for service! During the evening I was responsible in fixing drinks for our guests in the restaurant and sitting at the bar. At the end of the shifts I was responsible for closing.
