I am an economist with more than 18 years working experience, which ranges from competition law and enforcement enforcement and analysis, economic policy analysis and research, as well as policy analysis from an industrial development lens. I hold a PhD in Economics (2021), a Masters Degree in Economics (2004) and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics (2002).I am currently employed as a Chief Economist for the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) where I am the lead person in terms of research on how the policy and general economic environment can facilitate industrial and trade development.I spent 11 years (2010-2021) working at a leading Zimbabwe economic think tank, the Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit (ZEPARU), as a Senior Research Fellow. My roles included being the lead person in research and analysis, including research design, data collection, analysis and all follow-throughs. I also spent three years (2007-2010) working as an Economist for CUTS International, a consumer oriented international civil society organization in Jaipur, India and Lusaka, Zambia. I was actively involved, as the expert on competition policy enforcement for the development and execution of research on competition policy and trade related projects focused on informing advocacy efforts to deepen trade through the adoption of sound competition policies in the Africa region as well as Asia. Prior to this, I spent three years (2004-2007) working for the Competition and Tariff Commission, initially as Economist before rising to the position of Chief Economist, where I was involved in the enforcement of competition law for Zimbabwe.Over my professional career I have produced more than 50 research products, including journal articles, viewpoint papers, policy briefs and research publications which have been published widely, including in internationally renowned publications, a number of which I have also presented at international conferences. The research areas include competition policy analysis, as well as general economic policy analysis, including multi-country focus.My PhD was on international trade and competition policy interface across the Tripartite Free Trade Area. It assessed the extent to which the adoption and tightening of competition reforms attract international trade in Africa, using the Tripartite Free Trade area as a case study.
