Develops and maintains a the architecture for ingesting data from a data feedfor a cloud architecture. The system uses Kafka and a series of producers andconsumers written in Java to read data from files that are transferred to aserver and stored in a variety of data stores, specifically MongoDB,ElasticSearch, and HDFS. The system is designed so that the producers andconsumers are packaged in a single jar with all of their dependencies. Thiswas done to ensure that deployment is as simple as possible.On the same project, assumed the software architect and is involved in almostall aspects of the program. The primary responsibility is to know some ofeverything involved with the program and help ensure that the core project cansupport these needs of the rest of the projects under the same program.Previously worked on a project working on a web-based user interface usingRuby on Rails that allowed analysts to work with the results of analytics andstore their own notes and reports. These various entries can then be sharedwith other users and associated with each other to promote collaborationbetween users. Also worked on analytics using Perl to run as MapReduce jobsin Hadoop. Perl was chosen for it's string handling capabilities and it workswell with respect to managing external processes.

- Created a meta-data specification that incorporates elements of several well-known specifications tailored to being search-able and human-understandable. This simplified application development by providing a common data model that other formats could betransformed to and from.- Improved an organizations ability to discover information and collaborate on the quality of the information. The client has reported an immediate increase of productivity at current installations.- Improved the re-use of training materials for two different educational facilities by creating custom web-based repositories.- Leveraged several technologies to discover valuable information that can be used to assist with the analysis of malicious code.- Created an architecture to allow for the distributed analysis of code and software samples over,theoretically, any number of machines.- Successfully created a web-based repository that allowed a user to upload sample files and have them analyzed using a number of distributed processes. The interface also allowed the user to classify samples using a taxonomy by describing the various aspects of the sample,such as if it's compressed, self encrypting, or self-modifying.- Significantly reduced the amount of time spent analyzing data by creating a program to analyze CSV files that were exported from a database. This program shows patterns in the data, amount of NULL values found, and a reasonable guess at the correct data type to use.- Successfully completed work on a third data warehouse. My primary role on the project was the design of the ETL process.

Responsible for ensuring that the communications equipment used by the unit remained operational.
