Some of my achievements were:Implemented a turnaround strategy which moved the available reserves from less than 30% of available funds utilised to 98% utilisation;Introduced the Special Funding Window to cater for Persons with Disabilities participation in skills development initiatives;Introduced a MEGA Expressions of Interest and the Special Funding Window in 2009 which placed an additional 30 000 learners in skills development programmes, learnerships and short courses;Despite many capacity and research data challenges, finalised the development of the 2011-2016 Sector Skills Plan. I managed the performance of 5 Managers (Standards Generation, Learnerships, Quality Assurance, Skills Planning and Corporate Governance). I was responsible for the development of their strategic objectives and the monitoring of their business plan implementation. I was also responsible for project management and grants administration totaling R550mil. This included performance indicators reporting and admin budget control (+-R50 mil per annum). I supervised the project management of 22 projects with a total value of +- R500 mil. As COO I liaised extensively with stakeholders, Members of Parliament, Board members, and Standing Committees. Some of my achievements included the following: The ISO 9001:2000 champion; Developed a nationally recognized FET College support strategy together with NBI;Initiated the first ABET qualification to support skills development amongst young poorly educated miners;When retrenchments became a regular occurrence in the Mining Industry, I introduced the Retrenched Worker Support Programme with De Beers Mining Company which is now a national standard;Introduced the Small Scale Miner programme which supported and promoted SMME development;Assisted new BEE owners with mining rights and introduced through WITS and UJ, the New Mining Executive Programme to develop their Board level skills;Extended the artisan programme to include Jewellery Manufacturing apprenticeships;Managed to achieve unqualified audits five years in a row. -
