As the Local Contexts Director of Outreach & Strategy, I support Indigenous communities, institutions, and researchers to learn about and adopt the Local Contexts system of Traditional Knowledge and Biocultural Labels and Engagement, Disclosure, and Collections Care Notices. I am a settler based on Paugussett and Wappinger Homelands in what is today known as Connecticut. Before beginning my current role, I was the Institution Outreach Manager (October 2021-October 2023) and the Institutional Liaison for Hub beta testing (April-October 2021), at that time based out of New York University. I studied anthropology and museum studies, and have worked in museums and organizations in Lenapehoking (New York City). My previous roles involved project management and communication; grant writing and administration; virtual public program planning and production; exhibition research, development, and management; collections care and cataloguing; and publication design and copyediting.I am committed to supporting meaningful change in the museum and adjacent fields. I believe this can begin with a greater understanding, and transparent acknowledgement, of the histories of anthropology, science, and museum-making and how they persist in today’s collections, exhibitions, structures, and processes.
