I plan and carry out city events of all sizes- from the week-long Highland Fling to our Senior Citizen Appreciation Dinner to park grand openings and more events all year round. All of our events this year had to be reimagined in order to be covid-conscious and protect the health and safety of our attendees. My attendee tracking, ticketing, and crowd management plans allowed events to continue. Being able to quickly adapt to changing requirements and situations was key. I am responsible for budgeting, managing contractors, marketing, fundraising and sponsorships. I am also the Highland Youth City Council advisor, which includes leadership mentoring, planning learning opportunities for the council, interviewing potential council members and keeping 30 teenagers actively engaged in positive endeavors. In addition to planning city events, I help manage the city website and social media platforms, generating content and monitoring for issues. I also edit and create content for the monthly city newsletter that is sent to every home in Highland. I design informational mailers and large banners to advertise events and distribute safety information to citizens. I coordinate with other departments throughout the city government to ensure timely information is distributed to the appropriate audience.

Saratoga Springs, Utah, United States

After volunteering with Saratoga Springs City Events for five years, I was hired as a part-time employee when the department expanded. I planned and coordinated Fall Festival, which brought thousands of guests together for family fun. I planned and managed aspects of the city celebration, Saratoga Splash Days such as concerts, Jedi Training, Splash Bash water fight, vendor fairs, movies in the park, summer luau and more. I planned other city events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Celebration Series, and more intimate events such as Volunteer Appreciation nights. These events included coordinating with local law enforcement for traffic and safety plans, collaborating with local businesses to support the community fair, hiring contractors for various attractions and the festival, and managing a team of volunteers to keep the event running well. I also assisted with events ranging from parades to pageants to park grand openings. If there was something fun happening, I was there!In the event off-season, I assisted in the Human Resources department with records retention, digitizing multiple years' worth of files, creating a new filing system for employee records, and tracking employee training records. I enjoyed working in the office with a variety of coworkers!
