Gastite and Amnitec are subsidiaries of Smiths Group PLC (LSE: SMIN), a London headquartered member of the FTSE 100. Formerly, General Counsel and Head of ESG for Flex-Tek Group, an aerospace and advanced fluid management division of Smiths Group. Flex-Tek has $1bn annual revenue, 3,000 employees, and operations in the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, EU, India and China. Over 15 years’ experience of in-the-trenches international law and business. Member of the Senior Leadership Team and Divisional Management Board and manager of a global team of lawyers, compliance and HSE professionals. Experienced in international M&A, having completed several processes over the years, including a $350m aerospace acquisition from PE with nine sites across the US and EU, successfully passing antitrust review, and a $100m US-based family-owned construction business with over 300 employees. Prior to becoming General Counsel, served as head of Global Litigation for Smiths Group, managing a significant annual budget and two publicly provisioned mass torts. Presented to the Group Board of Directors and authored public reports and statements to shareholders. Utilized Lean six sigma principles to create a Litigation Centre of Excellence operating model, which in two years reduced the total claims against Group and spend by double digits. Also served as Company Secretary to the primary corporate subsidiary. Prior to Smiths, Cortney was a litigator at the international law firm of Morgan Lewis & Bockius where she was recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star in civil litigation on four occasions. Volunteer to the ABA Military Project assisting service men, women and families through pro bono legal service.
