Responsible for the 1200 personnel crew and it's moral, training, and good order and discipline, for one of two Military Sealift Command hospital ships. This floating Medical Treatment Facility has 12 operating rooms, 1000 beds to support various levels of care.

General description: Receives requests to establish, revise, and disestablish job classifications, staffs requests for internal and external review; manages, tracks and reports progress. Forward classification modification request to community managers, technical advisors, warfare sponsors, and other claimants. Verifies all Navy classifications with a myriad of independent supporting systems that maintain vital skill sets for the entire Navy.- Administrative Program Maintenance: Maintain a filing system under the Standard Subject Identification Code (SSIC) and/or Date-time-group (DTG) systems, or other required method.- Public Speaking: Possesses the ability to deliver speeches, briefs, and/or instruction to groups.- Software: Microsoft PowerPoint (Intermediate): Understands and has the ability to use basic and intermediate functions of Microsoft PowerPoint. Intermediate functions include: enhanced graphics including multiple charts and formatting; enhanced table design; special effects for text, clipart, and graphics; importing graphics; automating the program with design and color schemes, layouts; creating speaker notes and handouts.- Software: Microsoft Word (Basic): Understands and has the ability to use basic features of Microsoft Word; navigating the program, creating and saving documents, handling text, text formatting, paragraph formatting, document formatting, creating bullets and numbering.- Correspondence and document preparation: Possesses the knowledge and ability to prepare letters, messages, memorandums, directives and instructions, and a variety of reports. - Technical Writing: Prepares technical reports and briefs using correct grammar, applicable styles and formats suitable for technical content.

Senior Enlisted Leaders (SELs) represent their commander, communicating the commander's goals and direction for the command to the enlisted workforce, while simultaneously representing the enlisted personnel's views and concerns to the commander. They enhance communication and foster a better understanding of the needs and viewpoints of all members of the Navy family. By advising, consulting, and participating in the senior leadership team, SELs play an important role in the continuous improvement of the command. SELs advise ALL Navy members on personnel policies, programs, ideas, and opportunities pertinent to their well-being, allowing them to focus on performing their mission and enhancing their careers. SELs report directly to their commanders and keep the chain of command aware and informed of sensitive and current issues whenever appropriate. One of the greatest values a SEL brings to the command is their relationship/understanding of the enlisted workforce. To remain credible and to prevent gaps from growing in these critical relationships, SELs must spend as much time visiting and communicating with command personnel as possible.
