Electronics Technician 1•Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.•Repair, test, adjust, or install electronic equipment, such as drilling instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, human machine interfaces, visual display units, transmitters, and antennas.•Inspect components of drilling equipment for accurate assembly, installation and for defects such as loose or frayed wires.•Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems.•Study blueprints, schematics, manuals, or other specifications to determine installation procedures.•Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning or repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.•Setup and test various drilling instrumentation to ensure that it functions properly.•Repair or adjust equipment, machines, or defective components by replacing worn parts, such as seals in watertight electrical equipment.•Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.•24/7 support of all rig equipment including the following PAGA and telephone systems, Hydril MUX BOP control system, All rig communication equipment, VFD and SCR controls, Fire and Gas monitoring system, Tank gauging systems and weather monitoring / rig tracking systems.•Responsible for training rig Electronic Techs on the current automated equipment and making sure ET’s are up to date on all rig policies and competent to work on all equipment onboard.
