• I ran all aspects of the magazine’s editorial content. I led an overhaul of the magazine’s design and remade its written content, turning it into the best-written publication in the industry. The magazine covered almost every aspect of the specialty coffee and tea markets.• I managed the website, posting content regularly. I was a leading member of its development and I created the strategy that meshes the publication’s digital and print content. From its start, it grew steadily in readership and is part of the daily conversation about the coffee industry.• I photographed between four and eight stories and blog posts every month.

Portland

• I produced segments for the daily interview show. The segments covered a wide range of topics from politics to sports to art to education and most anything else our listeners were talking about around water coolers and dinner tables.• I found stories that could become segments, interviewed potential guests, wrote and edited segment summaries for the website, managed social media during the live show, screened calls from listeners, and occasionally took photographs.

Amman, Jordan

• As features editor, I originated, assigned, and edited short and long-form articles and photo essays. Stories by freelancers and our exceedingly small staff covered the country’s Arab Spring, arts, regional socio-political issues, environmental policy, food, Syrian refugees, women’s rights, and migrant labor rights. We profiled everyone from local comedians to street demonstrators.• As a staff writer, a position I held concurrently, I reported and wrote about many of these same issues. I focused particularly on investigating and analyzing the kingdom’s fitful Arab Spring and the monarchy’s reforms. I also wrote small front- and end-of-book articles, reviews, and blurbs.• I photographed many of the magazine’s stories, both photojournalism and studio portraiture.

The Dalles, Oregon

• I coordinated the newspaper’s monthly special sections, which includes planning, writing, photographing, editing, and designing the sections.• I also reported on Columbia River Indian issues, sports, higher education, and local government. I photographed most of my stories.
