• Assisted in building and maintaining the nutrition program for Head Start in Douglas County, Oregon. Learned on the fly all pertinent information for the Child and Adult Care Food Program and implemented this knowledge into building a successful program and a successful team.• Federal Reviews- Made sure the program passed Federal Review Inspections and kept the program in compliance with federal guidelines.• Supervision- Managing the kitchen including supervision of employees and volunteers, making sure we comply with state sanitation requirements and best practices, and deal effectively with the logistics of multi-site delivery of meals, dishes, and other nutrition-related items to the classrooms. Serve an average of 900 meals each day for children and staff. • Program Budget- Keeping the nutrition program within budget. In charge of ordering supplies, equipment, and food for the nutrition program and tracking associated costs using word processing and spreadsheets.• Made presentations for staff for nutrition training as well as created ownership of our mission with employees.• Menu Planning- In charge of planning meals which meet the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and are age-appropriate for the children we serve.
