Ph.D. geologist and carbonate specialist with over 25 years of petroleum geology experience in the Permian (23 years) and Anadarko (2 years) Basins. Strengths and interests include resource plays, carbonate sedimentology, and well log analysis (especially in carbonates), as well as mentoring others in these and related topics. My career has alternated almost equally between the exploration and development of (1) conventional carbonates and (2) various resource plays. These opportunities have provided me with experience and expertise in: reservoir characterization, primary and enhanced recovery operations, core / log integration, advanced well log analysis techniques in conventional reservoirs, vertical and horizontal plays (conventional and unconventional), varied geologic ages and depositional settings, field development in areas of structural complexity, identifying resource play drivers, and mapping within each of the physiographic provinces of the Permian Basin. This technical acumen has been augmented with three years of management experience (Asset Development Manager, Exploration Manager) with supervision of up to 16 direct reports. Duties as the Senior Geologic Advisor at Diamondback Energy (since 2020) have included: supporting asset development and upside identification, mentoring geologic staff, asset-level to regional correlations of shallow to deep horizons, creating a standardized regional stratigraphic framework, regional gamma ray normalization, mapping emerging resource plays, serving as technical advisor for special projects to management team, and supporting Business Development evaluations of potential acquisitions and divestitures. Early mapping projects were focused on the Delaware Basin and more recently, the Midland Basin.
