I am experienced in electronic hardware engineering, systems engineering/integration, and audio visual systems. My ideal setting has a focus on hardware engineering with schematic capture and PCB layout preferably in the Columbus Indiana area, however I am open to discussion and other opportunities. I am not afraid to learn and apply something new to get the project working. My background is in electronics. I have experience producing complex PCB layouts and supporting schematics. My preferred EDA is Altium Designer and I have a personal license. One of the more complex designs I engineered features 8 layers, a 484 BGA (0.8mm pitch), and 4Gbit of DDR3 in a fly-by architecture. I have recently been learning about USB Power Delivery and other related specifications for a now stale project.I am very knowledgeable with automotive communications interfaces like CAN. I was a CAN 2.0B/J1939 specialist while at Cummins. I also have experience with Automotive Ethernet (100baseT1, BroadR-Reach).My software background is limited, but growing. I prefer C based languages. I maintain a library for the Microchip MCP2515 CAN protocol controller for the Arduino eco system. I have extensive use of the ATmega328 both in the Arduino IDE and Atmel Studio. I am also familiar with the ATmega32u4 which features a native USB device interface. I am an advanced computer user with experience using Linux/GNU operating systems. I have tailored Linux on embedded devices to do various tasks such as datalogging, reading sensor information, and actuating controls. I have also used Linux on generic computer hardware with two network interfaces as a router/gateway for my home Internet connection for over a decade at this point. At one point my home Internet setup had a small publicly routable subnet (/20) and I was able to configure a Linux system to act as a transparent firewall for the subnet.In my personal time I enjoy remote control vehicles of all types, photography, and hiking. I also like to keep up on how the electronics industry evolves and innovate that evolution into my professional and personal capabilities. I also have a small IT lab at home where I keep up on that evolution as well.I also have some audio visual equipment that I can use for small events and have experience running AV for small conventions.I do have intentions to return to school for a bachelors and beyond in electronic engineering and computer science when life allows me. I would absolutely love to obtain a doctorate if the time and opportunity presented itself.
