I’m Cory, a recent graduate with a BS in Physics and German. I learned about solar policies and programs in different states and the political views that influenced those policies through my internship at NREL. I also gained insight into the operations of energy systems, like solar, wind, and heat pumps. While studying in Freiburg, Germany, one of my courses was on environmental and energy policy, as well as touring individual alternative projects that reduce energy dependence and environmental impact. My degree in Physics helps me pick up technical information quickly, even if I haven’t been exposed to it before, like learning Python through independent study. I have experience performing administrative duties like communicating with members and instructors, and organizing forms needed by student government for approval through my running of the Seibukan Jujutsu club. I’ve also taught a variety of subjects to people from elementary school up to adults through the Jujutsu club and other activities. In the process of researching, I have also written proposals and research papers to sum up the results. While much of my research and volunteering done fairly independently, teaching with Girl Scouts and the research with Prof. Spivey at U. of Puget Sound were done as part of a team.
