My favorite projects are child-focused, decorative, and/or fun & whimsical. My digital illustration work is recently created mostly in ProCreate on an IPad Pro, or in Photoshop, using my Wacom Cintiq. My traditional illustration work typically uses a combination of pen & ink line with watercolor, although my experience in various media is extensive. Let's create something amazing together!

Placeworks offers place-based, interdisciplinary art experiences to students and teachers in southwest Missouri's rural communities. We are a non-profit program, grant funded by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, operating from the Springfield Art Museum. As a teaching artist for Placeworks, I have designed lessons on meditative art & handmade sketchbooks, have co-lead the creation of a 25 foot mosaic mural, lead in the creation of a 8x16 foot collaged mural, helped 100+ first graders build & fly traditional Japanese kites, and have assisted in lessons in stop motion animation using Legos.• Work with classroom teachers to design unique, school-specific projects that allow for art experiences students would not otherwise have access to • Create projects that combine arts learning with other aspects of curriculum, emphasizing problem solving, critical thinking and imagination• Travel to the selected rural schools to teach over multiple visits• Increase 'pride in place' in rural communities through large-scale, permanent art installations

Substitute on occasion for Fair Grove and Strafford school districts, usually subbing for art classes. I served as long term substitute for the elementary art classroom at Strafford school for the majority of the 2014-2015 school year.

For seven years from 2005-2012, I developed curriculum from scratch and had complete responsibility for the artistic education of the children of a small school in the Ozarks hills. I was responsible for creating a suite of projects at each grade level to conform to DESE educational standards. I taught every student in grades kindergarten through 6th one class weekly, plus daily high school classes, and developed and taught a middle school program in my final years at the school. In addition, I of course managed the classroom- not only while teaching students, but also by developing a logical design for the organization of the materials and equipment, development of classroom procedures, accurate budgeting for and ordering of materials and equipment, & the grading, storing, and displaying of student work.

At Riley Marketing, I created simple yet elegant print advertisements for clients (mostly small business owners) all across the nation. These ads would then be initially included in city street maps used to promote tourism in the areas we served. Most of the ads were created using Photoshop & InDesign, plus Illustrator as needed. I worked with the sales department to get the specs for building the ad, then upon completion sent the finished ad to the client via email for approval. I also served as copy editor for the other designer on staff. This position was a valuable one for me because it gave me much needed experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite.

Fresh out of commercial art school, I worked for the best screen print shop in town, designing T-shirts with a high level of original illustration involved in the majority of job orders.
