Communications• Develop and ensure execution of communications strategies (utilizing a full suite of internal and external communications as appropriate) to help drive the Association’s public policy agenda forward.• Plan or direct development of communications programs that maintain favorable public opinion of the Company and/or member companies accomplishments or positions. • Develop relationships with the media (including social media) to maximize WG’s relevance in advancing the association’s priorities. Respond to requests for information from the media or designate an appropriate spokesperson for information source. • Establish or maintain cooperative relationships with representative of consumer or public interests groups.Strategic Initiatives• Direct the advancement of specified strategic initiatives, including key partnerships, public policy research initiatives, statistical research and presentations, research and writing to assist the President/CEO in preparation for speeches and presentations.Strategic Planning• Facilitate the development and implementation of the Western Growers’ strategic plan.• Work with staff to monitor progress toward the objectives and goals outlined in the Western Growers’ strategic plan.

• Staff all boards, commissions and committees on which the President serves and provide necessary support for subcommittee activities.• Prepare the President for all policy meetings, media interviews and speaking engagements by providing background material, preparing talking points, and compiling relevant statistics.• Work with Western Growers’ staff lobbyists in California, Arizona and Washington, D.C., to monitor and report on state and federal policy issues and legislation affecting agriculture.• Facilitate communication among the President, senior staff and consultants on policy issues.• Work with the Board of Directors and senior staff to facilitate the development, implementation and monitoring of the Western Growers’ strategic plan.• Work with senior staff to develop and track progress toward the annual executive team goals.• Lead the planning and implementation of assigned projects; facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables and ensure that project supports the organization’s mission and strategic plan.• Work with the Board of Directors and senior staff to identify Western Growers’ priority areas and grant opportunities; facilitate the submission of grant applications and manage the administrative, budgetary and reporting requirements of awarded grants.• Utilize Western Growers’ Association Management System (AMS) to manage member communications, as well as input and extract relevant information on member demographics and usage of association products and services.• Represent Western Growers at industry meetings, including speaking engagements.
